Richard A. “Dick” Huffman, Age 68, Of Battle Creek, Went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 29, 2016, surrounded by his family. Dick was born on February 6, 1948, in Port Huron, MI, the son of Ralph and Barbara (Lawton) Huffman. He was a 1966 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. He then received his Bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in 1970 and his Master’s in Art Education from Central Michigan University in 1978. Dick was a high school art teacher in St. Louis, MI, from 1973 to 1978, Charlotte, MI from 1979 to 1984. On April 26, 1969, he was united in marriage to the former Sally Moll who survives. He was a member of the First Wesleyan Church in Battle Creek serving as a Discipleship Pastor. He also served as an Associate Pastor for Trinity Wesleyan in Battle Creek and Coldwater Wesleyan. Dick enjoyed church softball and basketball leagues and was a high school referee. He enjoyed painting, drawing, remodeling and building houses. Surviving is a son, Travis (Bethany Mills) Huffman of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Christian, Layla, Hayley and Luke; a brother, Dave (Pam Waterbury) Huffman of Charlotte, MI and a sister, Donna (Joel) Arneson of Battle Creek; daughter-in-law, Michelle Huffman. He was preceded in death by sons, Robert Huffman in 1973 and Nathaniel Huffman in 2015. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2016, at the First Wesleyan Church with The Rev. Dr. Robert L. Zuhl officiating. Interment will be at Floral Lawn Memorial Garden.
