Richard Hawkins

Richard ”Hawk”  Hawkins, 73 of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. He was born January 12, 1938 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Victor Wilson and Dorothy (Case) Hawkins. Richard served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed bowling and playing baseball and umpired baseball games in the area for many years. On November 17, 1962 he was married to Melinda (Coats) who survives. Also surviving are six children: Debra Ivany, Dawn (Scott) McDonald, Tammy Elliot, Tina Carr, Joe (Deana) Hawkins and Julie (Tom) Marion, and eleven grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Weesner of Garrison Hills Wesleyan Church officiating and visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
