Battle Creek

Richard Edward Hardish, age 93 of Battle Creek, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021. He was born August 1, 1927 in Haugen, Wisconsin the son of Joseph E. and Velma (Zimmerman) Hardish. Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. He loved gardening and spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Michigan Carpenters Union and worked at Battle Creek Tile for many years prior to his retirement. On March 16, 1951 he was married to Darline Doris Drallmeier who survives. Also surviving are four children: Michael (Christine) Hardish, James (Laveta) Hardish, Julie Adams and Mary Riley; eight grandchildren: Nicole, Brian, Max, Kimberly, Amy, Jamie, Cody and Allyson; seven great-grandchildren: Hannah, Meghan, Addison, Chance, Alannah, Brooke and Jozlyn; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Elaine Mansk and his son-in-law Bruce Adams.  Richard loved his family, friends and helping others. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2021 at Faith Baptist Church, 13840 S. Helmer Road with Pastor Roy Henry officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Private interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
