Richard Foster

Richard V. Foster age 83, of Battle Creek, passed away on January 3, 2018 at his residence.  He was born on January 13, 1934 in Elkhart, Indiana, the son of Ned and Darley (Clark) Foster.  Richard graduated from Union City High School in 1952, then served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1962.  He was united in marriage on March 18, 1983 to Tirzah Flees.  Richard was employed by the Kellogg Company as a machinist, where he retired after thirty-eight years of service.  Richard was known for his love of the holidays, especially Christmas, with his yard always decked out in celebration.  He was an avid collector of model trains, and loved spending time with his family.  He was a member of the Kellogg Twenty-Five Year Club, United Commercial Travelers, and former member of the Marshall Moose Lodge #676.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Ned and Darley Foster, and a brother; Gary Foster.  Surviving are his wife of thirty-four years, Tirzah (Flees) Foster of Battle Creek, children; Constance Foster of Clarkston, Michigan, Carol (Mike) Adams of Manchester, Connecticut, Charon (Bill) Leal of Wyoming, Michigan, Steve Foster of Union City, Michigan, Robert ( Sue) Flees of Chicago, Illinois, Gregory (Kelly) Flees, Brenda (George) Bucklin, Brian Flees, Matt Flees, all of Battle Creek, sisters; Jeanne (Charles) Culp of LaPorte, Indiana, Vicki Fields of Burlington, Michigan, thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.  In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Union City United Methodist Church, 200 Ellen Street, Union City, Michigan.  Private inurnment will take place at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Humane Society of South Central Michigan or the Union City United Methodist Church.  Arrangements by the Richard A.
