Richard Davis

Battle Creek

Richard Neal Davis of Battle Creek, passed away on May 11, 2021 at the Heritage Assisted Living to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at the age of 91.  Richard was born April 27, 1930 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Bernard T. Cummins and Charlotte (Cummins/Davis) Walters.  Richard grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Lakeview High School, where he met his high school sweetheart and love of his life, the late Delores (Ferguson) Davis.  They were married August 5 th in 1950 at the First Congregational Church and were blessed with 70 years of marriage!  Richard was first employed by the Ferguson Construction Company, and then secured employment by the People’s Savings and Loan Bank as a bank manager.  He received his business degree from Argubright Business College, and afterward was employed at Kendall Industrial Supply Company as a purchasing agent, later retiring after 41 years of service.  Richard enjoyed many hobbies such as bowling, scuba diving, taking judo classes, snowmobiling, and motorcycling.  He and his wife, Delores also spent many wonderful years camping at Singing Sands Campground at Lake Michigan in South Haven, Michigan where they made many wonderful friends.  Richard enjoyed building projects and possessed a talent for engineering and designing ways to restore almost anything that needed repair.  He also had a great passion for music, and he spent many relaxing moments playing the organ and keyboard.  Most of all he will be remembered as a man who put Christ first in all things, and loving his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all his heart.  Richard leaves behind his two daughters, Gail (Gary) James of Battle Creek, Lisa Emig-Moore of Battle Creek, as well as seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.  Richard was preceded in death by his wife Delores and his parents.  A private family memorial and graveside service will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the Heritage Assisted Living and Elara Caring Hospice of Michigan for their excellent medical care and compassion.  Personal messages may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN.  38105 or the American Cancer Society, P.O.
