Richard Arlin Everett, Age 80, Of Seneca, SC, Formerly of Battle Creek, MI, Richard passed on August 20, 2011, in Greenville, SC.  Richard was born on May 7, 1931, in Battle Creek, MI to John Clair and Ruth (Weever) Everett.  He lived most of his life in the Battle Creek area and resided in Michigan from 1931 to 2007.  He moved to Seneca, SC in 2007.  He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U. S. Marine Corp from 1948 to 1952.   He was a decorated Marine who was part of the “Chosin Few” during the Korean Conflict.  He was awarded 8 Bronze Stars with Valor and 2 Purple Hearts with a Gold Star while in Korea.  During his 4 years in the Marine Corps he was awarded a total of 14 medals and 4 combat ribbons.  He served a total of 43 years in the military including the Michigan Air National Guard from 1952 to 1986 and the U.S. Air Force reserve from 1986 to 1991.  He was awarded 6 medals and 3 distinguished service ribbons during his Air National Guard career including the Air Force Commendation Medal.  Richard was married to his surviving wife Dorothy Ann (Moore) Everett on November 15, 1952, in Angola, Indiana.  He was a member of the American Legion and the Marine Corps League.  Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting coins, toy cars, airplanes and Coke-a-Cola memorabilia.  Surviving are his 4 children, Robert Everett of Lake St. Louis, MO, Richard Everett Jr. of Liberty, SC,  Ronda Everett of Liberty, SC and Ronnel Everett of Angola, IN.  He has 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and is survived by his brother, John Everett of Dowling, MI.  A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2011, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home in Battle Creek, Michigan.  The Rev. Dr. Mason Shambach will be officiating.  Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.  Interment with full military honors will be held on January 12, 2012, at 1:00PM at Arlington National Cemetery.
