Raymond Thorson

Raymond Russell Thorson, 68, of Battle Creek passed away on February 21, 2018 surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home. Ray was born July 1, 1949 to the late Floyd and Doris (Renbarger) Thorson in Niles, Michigan. He was a proud 1967 graduate of Pennfield High School. He attended Ferris State University and served in the U.S. Navy from 1969-1972. On June 23, 2001 Ray married Sindi (Bonnell-Ploehn) of Battle Creek. Ray worked for the Grand Trunk / Canadian National Railroad for 47 years and retired in 2015. Ray enjoyed time spent on the water boating and fishing. He loved an afternoon on the golf course or watching U of M Football. He always looked forward to spending time with his children, and his grandchildren in South Carolina and Arizona. Ray is survived by his wife, Sindi, Children: daughters Abby (Brian) Neil of Dubai UAE, and Erin (Nick) Weber of Gilbert, AZ, step-son Dustin (Lauren) Ploehn of Battle Creek, and step-daughter Kristen (James) Christie of Chapin, SC, Grandchildren: Olivia Neil, Lyla and Evelyn Weber, Nora and Roe Christie, Siblings: Sister, Bonnie (Gary) Bulstma of Grand Rapids and Robert (Meredith) Thorson of Farmington Hills and the mother of his children, Martha Thorson of Mesa, AZ. He is preceded in death by his brother, Floyd Thorson. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the Richard A.
