Died Wednesday, January 24, 2018. Ralph was born on June 17, 1928, in Knoxville, TN, to Lonn and Ruby (Kares) Hood. His father died in 1930. His mother married Tom Roberts and moved to Battle Creek in 1932 where he spent his life. Ralph attended the old one room Spaulding School and Marshall High School. He worked for Charles Binder Co., Post Cereal, A.C. Baker Inc., and was a farmer in Newton Township for many years. He retired from Lakeview Schools in 1992 after 25 years in the Building and Grounds Department. He was a member of the Retired School Personnel, Michigan Milk Producers Association and A.A.R.P. Ralph was a member of Glad Tidings Church of God for many years and the All Tribes Indian Missionary Reserve Army since it began years ago. He was a long time member of Dexter Lake Church of God. He loved to read the Bible, listen to gospel music, driving his car and writing. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father; a half-sister, Gladys Hill; step-sisters, Minerva Francisco and Dorothy Edgerton and step-brothers, Chuck and Jim Roberts. Surviving are two nephews, Mark (Cheryl) Edgerton and Terry (Renee) Hill. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2018, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Blaine Faircloth of Dexter Lake Church of God officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Newton Cemetery.
