Rachel Porter

October 17, 1920 — December 1, 2011

Rachel E. Porter of Battle Creek peacefully journeyed December 1, 2011 from C.C.M.C.F. into Heaven. Waiting for her are her husband of 52 years, Bill Porter, their son, Jim Porter, and a granddaughter, Caryn Cooper, also her parents Fred and Lena Hunn, brothers Art and Ralph Hunn, and sister Phyllis Kleczynski.

Celebrating her life are her children, Joyce (Duane) Fritz, Linda (Ron) Swain, Ann Porter, Larry (Becky) Porter, Ralph Porter, Wayne (Jean) Porter, sister-in-law, Harriet (Frank) Davis, brother-in-law, John Porter. Also, her13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Her family and many friends brought her joy and many opportunities to celebrate with pizza parties and baking our favorite chocolate chip cookies and doll cakes.

She was raised in the Mennonite Church and enjoyed life as a Navy wife for 20 plus years, later working at Leila Hospital as a L.P.N.

Family will receive friends from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm Sunday December 4, 2011 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30am with Minister Gordon Pippin of Central Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery
