Phyllis Deana Roach, age 93 of Arlington, Virginia and formerly of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014. She was born January 9, 1921 in Ottawa, Illinois the daughter of Gerald and Berdeana (Aldrich) Wagner. Mrs. Roach was a 1938 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and 1940 graduate of Mahers Business College in Kalamazoo. She had worked at Fort Custer, the Kellogg Company and Sears, and retired from the Lakeview School District in 1982 where she was an administrative assistant. A charter member of Westlake Presbyterian Church, she played the hand bells, was on the Board of Deacons, taught Sunday school and was a charter member of the Deborah Circle. She was also a board member of the Battle Creek Morning Musical Club. Mrs. Roach was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Carolyn Young; son: Douglas F. Roach and husbands: Martin “Bill” Heppler and Douglas A. Roach. Surviving are her children: Wes Heppler of Arlington, VA, Jeff (Judy) Heppler of Richland, Patricia (Bob) Lewallen of Traverse City, Jeanne (Mike) Bradish of Dexter, Carolyn (Howard) Simrau of Gladwin and Kathy (Mike) Hall of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Westlake Presbyterian Church with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Beckley Cemetery.
