Died Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Evergreen Senior Care and Rehab Center. Phillip was born on August 30, 1926, in Battle Creek, MI, the son of Gilbert P. and Willie (Engle) Daniel. He had been a lifelong resident of the area graduating from Battle Creek Central High School. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. army during WWII. On January 30, 1948, he was united in marriage to the former Joyce Colleen Doyle who preceded him in death on September 3, 2015. Phillip worked for Nash Motors as parts manager from 1946 to 1947 in Battle Creek, then with Eaton Corporation as foreman from 1948 to 1959. He then went to Ford Motor Company as a foreman from 1959 to 1960 then with the Kellogg Company from 1961 until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, was a lifelong member of the V.F.W., the Springfield Lions Club and the Eagles Club. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and camping with family. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Joyce (Bob) Avani and a son, Phillip Kendall (Linda) Daniel both of Battle Creek; 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Rose Milhoun of Battle Creek, brother-in-law, James (Karin) Doyle of St. Claire Shores, MI; sisters-in-law, June Matthews of Battle Creek and Pat Doyle of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Arnold Daniel in 1991; a sister, Oleta Sidnam and a brother, Arnold “Bud” Daniel. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 20, 2017, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society. www.henryfuneralhome.org
