Peter Crane

Peter John Crane, 77 of Battle Creek, passed away on May 6th, 2021, with family by his side.

He was born to the late Roderic Dwight and Yvonne June (Douglas) Crane, February 26th, 1944, in Battle Creek, Michigan.  Pete graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1962. After high school, he served in the National Guard while in his early years of employment at Post Cereals.  Pete retired from Post after working many decades alongside his many life-long friends.

Pete was united in marriage to his wife, Mary Margaret Brockway, on February 12, 1966, and enjoyed 47 years together until her death in November of 2013.  He is survived by his son, Jeff Crane, and daughter, Michelle Graves.  Also surviving are his grandson Hunter (Mint) Graves, his brother Steve (Brenda) Crane, and his sisters-in-law, Judy (David) Crane and Sharon (James) Brockway.  He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, brother, David Crane, and his son-in-law, Ron Graves.

Pete’s hobbies were many; he was a pilot for many years and enjoyed attending fly-ins with anyone who was brave enough to join him for a long-distance breakfast or airshows.  Although he stopped flying in his later years, he never settled down. Pete preferred spending time swapping lies with his friends at his favorite watering holes.  He also enjoyed flying his favorite RC plane Foamy and telling jokes.  Throughout his life, Pete had a passion for vintage cars, motorcycles, and especially loved listening to music.

A memorial service will be held at a later date due to Covid-19.
