Pete Raab, Augusta, MI – Pete Raab, age 71, of Augusta, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family Tuesday, April 19, at Borgess Hospital. Pete was born on March 28, 1945, in Battle Creek, the son of Roger and Glendon Raab. Growing up, Pete attended Lakeview Schools, graduating in June of 1963. Upon graduating, Pete enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served under General Chesty Puller in the 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam 1964-1965 and 1965-1966. While serving in the Marines, he was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, Marine Commendation, Marine Corps Good Conduct, Marine Corps Expedition, National Defense, Armed Forces Expedition, U.S. Vietnam Service, R.V.N. Gallantry Cross, R.V.N. Wound Medal, R.V.N. Honor Medal 2/C, R.V.N. Civic Action 2/C, and R.V.N. Campaign Medal. Pete was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant. Returning from Vietnam and transitioning to the workplace had Pete working at a few different jobs: Ralston Purina, Grand Trunk Railroad, becoming a State Trooper and finally, working at and retiring from Union Pump Company. Upon retiring, Pete went to work at United Kennel Club, helping the staff with different jobs around the office. Pete had a tremendous love of family, friends and his church. Even through tough times, one would never know it with his ever present smile. His kind, caring, loving, strong demeanor made him a one of a kind person; not to mention his great sense of humor. Upon meeting him, one was instantly touched and would not soon forget his presence. To know Pete was to love Pete; he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.  He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Tanya; children, Todd (Kim) Raab; Tammy Landers, Ashley Raab; and three grandchildren, Aubree, Hayden and Rip. Visitation will be held at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, 703 Capital Avenue, Battle Creek, on Sunday, April 24 from 4pm to 7pm; then 10:30am on Monday, April 25, with funeral service to begin at 11:30am. Burial will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Life Recovery Program at the Haven of Rest, Battle Creek or the COPD Foundation are appreciated. www.henryfuneralhome.org
