Penny Manarin

August 26, 1942 — July 15, 2015

Penny Ann Manarin, age 72, of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday July 15, 2015 at the Bronson at Home Hospice Residence. She was born August 26, 1942 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Raymond and Nellie (Kenzora) Andrews and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1960. On September 8, 1962 she married Carlo “Pete” Manarin who survives. Also surviving is her daughter: Debbie (Kurt) Esselink of Marshall; son: Tony (Kimberly) Manarin of Jackson; four grandchildren: Ashley and Jacob Esselink, and Chaney and Ethan Manarin; one brother: Dana (Kathy) Andrews of Battle Creek and several nieces and nephews. Penny was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Vittoria Manarin and brother Billy Andrews. A longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, she was an avid reader who loved to cook, cross stitch and flower garden but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and following her grandchildren’s activities. She also liked animals, especially her cats and dogs. Penny had most recently worked at Northtown Pharmacy for 10 years prior to retiring and spent winters in Arizona with Pete, a place she especially enjoyed. In her younger years, she had been an avid tennis player. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
