Peggy Kay Allabaugh

Died on Monday, October 23, 2023. Peggy was born on October 28, 1948, in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Richard and Vivian (Lindner) VanLandegent. She had been a lifelong resident of the area and was a 1966 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. She then attended Kellogg Community College and Central Michigan University receiving her bachelor’s degree in child development. Peggy married David L. Allabaugh on November 20, 1970, who survives. She worked at Pennfield Schools teaching kindergarten and 2nd grade for 2 years.  After that she poured her life into raising her 3 children and working tirelessly on the family farm.  She was active in running hot lunch and other school programs and taught Sunday School for over 35 years.  She worked for several years at a dairy farm where she cared for calves and dairy cows.  More recently, she ran a retail flower sale for 12 years and enjoyed interacting with and sharing a love of plants with customers that would return year after year.  She attended West Leroy Bible Church for the last 15 years.  She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, gardening, cooking and reading. Surviving are her children, David (Monika) Allabaugh, Jennifer MacLellan and Peter (Terri) Allabaugh; grandchildren, Max, Viktoria, Lydia, Rachel, Seth, Mark and Miles; sisters, Phyllis (Tom) Thomas and Nancy (Ralph) Leitsinger; a brother, Don (Beverly) VanLandegent. She was preceded in death by a brother, Rick VanLandegent. Visitation will be held Friday November 10, 4:00-7:00 pm at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation services. Funeral services will be held Saturday November 11, 10:00 am at North Athens Baptist Church, 2020 M Dr S, Athens, MI. Interment will be at Leroy Congregational Cemetery. A Lunch reception follows at North Athens Baptist Church.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to West Leroy Bible Church.
