Paula Wallen

Paula M. Wallen, 54 of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at her home. She was born April 10, 1957 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Frank Paul and Olga Marie (Markovich) Sophie. Following her graduation from St. Philip Catholic High School and Kellogg Community College, Paula began working at the Kellogg Company where she retired as an executive secretary in procurement. She enjoyed horseback riding and traveling, and was an awesome cook. On March 19, 2005 she was married to Danny Lynn Wallen who survives. Also surviving is her daughter: Traci (Jon) Smith Horton of Indianapolis, IN; son: Tony Smith of Battle Creek; step-daughter: Heather (Shawn) Wallen Nelson and step-son: Daniel J. (Jaclyn) Wallen both of Marshall; sister: Maryann (Michael) Flynn of Kalamazoo; nine grandchildren: Carter Horton, Autumn, Austin, Ashley and Aidan Nelson; Ethan and Austin Fellows; and Kaylie and Jaidyn Wallen; two nephews: Scott Swartzle and Logan Flynn. Paula was preceded in death by her parents. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a service to celebrate Paula’s life at 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society for Merkel Cell Carcinoma research.
