Patricia Ann  VanNorman, Age 85, Of Battle Creek, Died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. Patricia was born on May 5, 1927, in Lansing, MI, the daughter of Ernest and Wilhelmina (Yeager) Case. She had been an area resident since 1950. She was a 1945 graduate of Lansing Eastern High School and a 1949 graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. On September 13, 1947, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Lee VanNorman who preceded her in death on March 20, 2011.  She started teaching at Battle Creek Public Schools from 1950 to 1958, then with Lakeview Public Schools at Riverside Elementary from 1958 until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the Westlake Presbyterian Church, Marshall Garden Club and Leila Arboretum. Patricia enjoyed gardening, bird watching, playing cards every other week with a group of ladies, spending time with her family, wintering in Myrtle Beach and was an avid MSU fan, especially football. Surviving are children, Wendy VanNorman of Augusta, MI, and Ann (Danny) Humpula of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Amy (Keith Ptasznik) Williams, Rebecca (Jeff Hamilton) Williams, Marie(Shawn) McBlain, Chris (Breanna) Humpula and Elizabeth Humpula; great grandchildren, Grace Carter-Williams, Blake Wells and Zoey McBlain; sister-in-law, MaryAnn Case; brother-in-law, Jerry VanNorman; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2013, at Westlake Presbyterian Church with Pastor Paula VanderHoven officiating. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
