Ottie L. Konkright, age 91, of Battle Creek, passed away on December 23, 2024, at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, Michigan. He was born on March 25, 1933, in Bracken County, Kentucky, the son of Charles and Gladys (Clos) Konkright. Ottie previously lived in Clark County, Ohio, Middletown, Pennsylvania and San Antonio, Texas before moving to Battle Creek in 1976. He graduated from Northwestern High School, then went on to Coyne Technical School in Chicago, Illinois. Ottie was employed as an Electronics Technician for the Civil Airforce at the Battle Creek Federal Center, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed bicycling, reading, and genealogy. He had compiled an album of family cycling history. Ottie was a member of the Battle Creek Bicycling Club, Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge # 897 in Grand Ledge, Texas. He was united in marriage on July 10, 1954, to Geraldine Grimm in Bowesville, Ohio, she preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents, sister Rowena, daughter-in-law, Sandra J. Konkright, and Great Great Grandson, Vinnie Simmons. Surviving are his children; Daniel (Wanda) Konkright of Lynchburg, VA., Stanley (Sandra) Konkright of Battle Creek, Keith Konkright of Scotts, MI., brothers; Eudell (Aletha) Konkright of Lawrenceville, OH., David (Barbara) Konkright of Lancaster, OH., grandchildren; Clara (Bryon) Thomasson, Chapan (Kami) Konkright, Robert (Sierra) Konkright, Jill Davis, Eugene (Amy) Cooper, Roy (Heather) Cooper, Ryan Konkright, Kelsey Konkright, Sonja Vandermee, Nicole (Dan) Palka ,Katryna Vandermee, 25 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral service scheduled for 12:30 p.m., Monday, January 6, 2025 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Julie Elmore of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow the service at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
