Norris Wilson, Sr.

Norris W. “Mike” Wilson, Sr., Age 88, Of Battle Creek, Died Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. Norris was born on July 23, 1924, in Battle Creek, the son of Ralph and Leona (Weimer) Wilson. He had been an area resident living in Leroy Township for 57 years. On September 24, 1924, he was united in marriage to the former Edith M. Phares who survives. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, lots of flowers, watching the Detroit Tigers, and his cats “Blackie” and “Brat”. Surviving are daughters, Leona (Cor) Heykoop of St. Catharines, Ontario, Evelyn (Tony) Miller of Climax, MI; a son, David (Leslie) Wilson of Denver, CO; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Glen and Chuck (Dorothy) Wilson, Dewey (Linda) Wilson and Tommy (Rhonda) Wilson; sisters, Mary (Bob) Anderson and Linda Fuller. He was preceded in death by a son, Norris W. Wilson, Jr. in 2011; his parents; brothers, Gerald, Gale, Wesley, Ralph, Jr. and a sister, Carol Olian.  Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 29, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor John Sholley officiating. Interment will be at Morgan Cemetery.
