Norman W. Craven, age 92, of Battle Creek, passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, July 2, 2018, at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Norman was born on February 23, 1926, in Hastings, MI., the son of John and Golda (Shopbell) Craven. He lived in Pontiac, MI, before joining the U.S. Navy in 1944. After serving, he settled in Battle Creek where met his future wife, Katherine Knoll, who survives him. On February 25, 1949, they were married at the First United Methodist Church. Norman was a general manager for Clemans Truck Line in Battle Creek and South Bend, Ind. He also was employed with CW Transport and Blue Arrow Truck Line in Battle Creek. Norman attended Calvary Baptist Church, was a member of the Battle Creek Lions Club and was president from 1981 to 1982. He was also a member of the Travel Trailer Club of the Midwest, Kalamazoo Power Squadron and Good Sam. He was an avid boater and enjoyed traveling with his motorhome. Surviving are his daughters, Judy (Darl) Dalman of Holland, Janette (Stan) Felder of Grand Rapids and Jean Johnson of Evans, GA; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Eakins and son-in-law, Gregory Johnson. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the funeral home with Pastor Thomas Townsend officiating. Interment will be at Floral Lawn Memorial Garden, with a luncheon following at Calvary Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or the Calhoun County Animal Shelter.
