Norman Lee Borchardt, Age 81, Of Battle Creek, Died Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Evergreen Senior Care and Rehab Center. Norman was born on October 7, 1934, in Morris, MN, the son of Alfred and Lucille (Sherrett) Borchardt. He grew up at a young age in Morris, MN, and moved to Battle Creek in 1941. He was a 1953 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. On August 29, 1959, he was united in marriage to the former Carolyn A. Hughes who survives. Norman started employment at Post Cereals in October of 1953. He worked at Dare Products for a short while from 1953 to 1955 while being laid off from Post. Norman returned to Post and retired after 36 years of service. He attended Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and Birchwood United Methodist Church. He enjoyed collecting toy soldiers, Lionel Trains and used to enjoy traveling around the U.S. Surviving are sons, Scott Lee Borchardt of Battle Creek and Douglas Wayne Borchardt of Waverly, OH; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Debra E. Stanley. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with The Rev.
