Nilda C. Ismirle

Nilda “Nye” Catherine Ismirle, 58, passed away October 30, 2023 while residing at The Oaks in Battle Creek, Michigan where she had many friends among the staff. She was born September 24, 1965 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Nilda lived most of her life in East Leroy, Michigan on the family farm her grandparents purchased in 1953. She attended Athens Schools. She worked at Lowe's, Orchard Park Grocery Store, and as a custodian at W.K. Kellogg Foundation.  Nilda was a kind-hearted person who lived with and provided care for her ailing mother through her mother's final years. One of Nilda's last acts of kindness was buying a rain poncho to protect herself and her electric wheelchair from the rain so she could participate in an Alzheimer's fundraiser walk on October 14.  Nilda's passion was spending quality time with her daughter, Shelby and granddaughter, Kailey. She was a big fan of Trace Adkins, loved watching movies, and playing video games. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Ismirle and her father, Gene Ismirle.  Nilda is survived by her daughter, Shelby Waite, Springport, Michigan, her granddaughter, Kailey Childs, Springport, Michigan, brothers David (Deborah) Ismirle, East Leroy, and Craig (Valoree) Ismirle, East Leroy, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a celebration of life at North Avenue Church of God on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 10:30 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Arrangements by Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Battle Creek, Michigan. Interment will be at Burr Oak Cemetery, Athens, Michigan.
