Nellie Barnes

Nellie Pearl Barnes, age 107, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She was born November 22, 1909 in Howlandsburg, Michigan the daughter of John G. and Inis (Johnson) Noble. Mrs. Barnes had worked at the V.A. Laundry and Post Cereals, and enjoyed crafts, crocheting and going to bible study. She was preceded in death by her husband Seldon Dewey Barnes in 1974, daughter Geraldine Menne and two brothers: Frank and Ernest Noble. Nellie is survived by her son: David (Sandra) Barnes of Battle Creek and son-in-law: George Menne of Richland; six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with interment to follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Calhoun County Medical Care Facility Activities Fund or the charity of choice. www.henryfuneralhome.org
