Myrtle B. Cantrell, age 87, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday May 8, 2016 at the Bronson at Home Hospice Residence. She was born January 28, 1929 in High Point, North Carolina the daughter of Daniel and Mae (Petrie) Yother. Mrs. Cantrell moved to Michigan as a child, living in Battle Creek most of her life other than a period from 1968 – 1976 when she resided in Lawrenceville, Georgia. On May 28, 1955 she was married to Verble E. Cantrell in Rome, Georgia and he preceded her in death on May 3, 1977. She was also preceded by a brother Daniel J. Yother, Jr., sister Lela Bacho and first husband William Kenneth Carter. Surviving are her children: Brenda (Jerry) Baker of Climax, Linda Carter-Thomas of Hinsdale, Illinois, Jeanie (Sam) Ripoli, Rhonda (Dale) Davis, LaVon (Chuck) Eakins and Bruce (Ericka) Cantrell all of Battle Creek; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Virginia Hill, Annette Barrett and Ruth Burdick all of Battle Creek; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cantrell had worked at Community Hospital and the Emily Andrus Home for many years and enjoyed bowling and cooking. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the funeral home with Rev. Travis Davis of Family Altar Chapel officiating.
