Morita E. “Rita” Smith, 77, of Ceresco passed away Sunday April 7, 2013 at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born on March 24, 1936 in Athens, MI to Glenn A. and Ethel (Deal) Bigelow.
Rita was united in marriage on April 12, 1952 to Kenneth R. Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, of Ceresco, a son, Kenny Ray Jr. (Pamela) Smith, of Battle Creek, daughters, Debra Smith, of Battle Creek, Sherry Smith, of Palo Alto, CA; and Katherine Clayman, of Dowling, two grandchildren, B.J. (Candy) Smith and Zachary (Melissa) Smith, a brother, Keith (Jean) Bigelow and a sister, Shirley Broughton, both of Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Alan Smith.
Rita enjoyed camping, farm animals, and riding BMW motorcycles.
Visitation will be held 5 pm to 7 pm Wednesday April 10, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Lipscomb officiating. Interment will follow at Leroy Congregational Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Safe Place or Paws for Veterans.
