Modean Louise Davis, age 84, of Battle Creek, went to be with her Lord on Friday, April 04, 2014. She was born in Pangburn, Arkansas on July 28, 1929 the daughter of Willis and Pearl (Long) Reaper. Mrs. Davis was a lifelong pastor’s wife who dedicated her life to raising her children and serving God enthusiastically. She loved to sing gospel music and work in her garden, and was the most gracious host who loved to entertain family and friends. On April 22, 1950 she was married to Pastor Hershel Davis who survives. Also surviving are nine children: Hershel (Kim) Davis, Jr., Pastor Glyn (June) Davis, Pastor Windle (Denice) Davis, Pastor Doug (Caralee) Davis, Dale (Rhonda) Davis, Lyle (Regina) Davis, Cloria (Pastor Mack) Travis, Pastor Travis (Becky) Davis and Pastor Lane (Carol) Davis; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Jean Pruitt, Norma (Roland) Sharp, Carolyn Gay and Joan (David) Pruitt and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Limon Gerald Davis, three sisters: Hazel Kennedy, Pauline Higgs and Betty Dorsey and her granddaughter Leanne Clark. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Family Altar Chapel, 14844 6 ½ Mile Road, with Pastor Blaine Faircloth of Dexter Lake Church of God officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
