Michael Schrader

Michael Andre “Big Mike” Schrader, Age 49, Of Battle Creek, Went to be with the Lord, February 4, 2012. He was born January 8, 1963, in Monterey Bay, CA, to Raymond and Emilia (Orzech) Schrader. He grew up in California, Panama, Germany and Iowa, with frequent visits to France. For the past 18 years he made his home in Battle Creek. After doing construction and heavy equipment operations, he worked most of his life as an Aerial Lineman owning and operating his own business for over 20 years. He loved doing line work and was highly regarded in the industry. He leaves behind his partner in life. Stacy Powell and his daughter, Morgyn Powell at home; sons, Anthony Powell of Battle Creek and Corey (Barbie ) Mallory of MD; mother, Emilia (David) Oltman of TN; sister, Rosemarie ”Rosie” Schrader of IL; and his beloved pets; Juju, Riley, Mittens, Fugly, Mickey and Fat Cat. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon Schrader and his father. Mike was a wonderful father who always put his family first. He was a trusted and loyal friend always willing to help others. He was an avid reader and Mopar fanatic; working on, restoring, racing and collecting many mopars over the years. He enjoyed sprint car racing, old westerns, bonfires in the backyard, camping, spending time with family and being in northern Michigan. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. We take comfort knowing he is reunited with the Lord and his daughter, and that we will be with him again someday. According to Mike’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 12 to 3:00 p.m., at Sir Pizza, Columbia Avenue and Vale Street, Battle Creek, MI.
