Michael S. McGinnis Jr., age 51 of Battle Creek, passed away on May 30, 2021, as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was born on March 26, 1970, in Battle Creek, the son of Michael McGinnis and Pamela Schnuck. Michael was a lifelong area resident of Battle Creek. He proudly served in the United States Navy during Operation Desert Storm, beginning in 1989. He was honorably discharged in 1996. He previously worked for Canadian National Railroad as a conductor, then as a railroad consultant for Right-of-Way Consulting for eleven years. Michael enjoyed bonfires, grilling and listening to his favorite band Metallica, although his true passion was riding motorcycles. Michael was preceded in death by his stepson; Dalton Murray and stepbrother; Ian Lawrence. He is survived by his parents; Michael (Jovoane) McGinnis Sr. of Battle Creek, mother; Pamela Schnuck of Wisconsin, children; Harley McGinnis, Hannah McGinnis, Cheyenne (Corey) Parson, Joshua (Olivia) Wilkey, all of Battle Creek, brother; Sean (Regina) McGinnis, sister; Mary Whitman, stepbrothers; Lewis Lawrence, Matthew (Heather) Tousey, Brian Stockman, stepsister; Jeanette Stockman, half-sisters; Tina Ellis and Kristina Schnuck, half-brothers; Jerry and Bill Schnuck, five grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, with memorial service to follow at 1:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
