Michael Laske

Michael G. Laske #9, passed away on July 24, 2022 at the age of 63.  He was born on July 10, 1959 in Hillsdale, Michigan, the son of Stephen and Marguerite (Nicolai) Laske.  Mike graduated from Reading High School in 1977 and moved to Kalamazoo where he would meet his future wife, Veronica Myers. They were married on May 6, 1989 on a snowy day and lived in Richland, MI before moving to Battle Creek.  Mike adored his two sons, Matthew and Mitchell and coached their home school basketball teams. He was tremendously proud of the men they had become.

Mike was a master electrician. He owned and operated Laske Electrical Service for eleven years.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing, poker, U of M sports and taking his annual fishing trips to Canada with his brothers and friends.  He had a love/hate relationship with the Detroit Lions but watched them every Sunday with hope that this would be the year! He loved to cook and was particularly fond of mixing beer and tomato juice, his drink of choice. Mike had a big heart and was always willing to help others. Mike will be remembered for his laughter, sarcastic nature and his big red water cup.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Steve Laske, Tom Laske, Joe Laske and a sister; Kathy DeYoung.  He is survived by his wife; Veronica Laske of Battle Creek, sons; Matthew Laske of Lawrence, KS., Mitchell Laske of Battle Creek, MI., brothers; Phil (Catherine) Laske of Richland, MI., Jim (Charlotte) Laske of Centralia, WA, Larry (Nancye) Laske of Winder, GA., sisters; Vickie (Henry) Trent of Brighton, MI., Michelle (Eric) Garland of Lake Orion, MI., sister in laws; Mary Lou Laske of Grand Rapids, MI., Mary (Laske) Kaiser of Ocala, FL, a brother in law; Bob DeYoung of Baldwin, MI,. close friends, Mike Simons., Carmen (Jeannie) Hamilton and Jim McNett.  The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4,  2022 and from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022, where a luncheon will follow at noon at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions in Michael’s memory may be made to the family.  Memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
