Michael S. Gibbs, 49 of Battle Creek passed away Friday June 28, 2013 at Bronson Battle Creek.
He was born on August 6, 1963 in Kalamazoo to Alan E. and Janet (Willis) Gibbs.
Michael graduated from Lakeview High School in 1982. He had worked for Exopack, Southwest Michigan Rehab, and Griswold Machine and Engineering Inc. in Union City. Michael was united in marriage to Shari L. Messenger on October 17, 1986 in Battle Creek.
He is survived by his wife, Shari, a son, James A. Gibbs, of Kalamazoo, a daughter, Brandi E. Gibbs, of Kalamazoo, his mother, Janet Gibbs, of Battle Creek, father and step-mother, Alan E. (Marilyn) Gibbs, of Battle Creek, a brother, Mark (Lisa) Gibbs, of Battle Creek, two sisters, Sheryl (Abe) Leaver, of St. Clair, MI; Shauna (Bob) Karel, of Byron Center, MI; and his in-laws, Jim and Beverly Messenger, of Battle Creek, a sister-in-law, Sue Messenger, of Battle Creek, and several nieces and nephews.
Michael enjoyed coaching, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and pets.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm Tuesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be held at 11am Wednesday July 3, 2013 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Perry officiating. Inurnment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Humane Society of South Central Michigan or “Michael S. Gibbs Fund” in c/o Battle Creek Community Foundation.
