Maxine Schense

Maxine Catherine Schense, aged 90, died Wednesday, October 14, 2020 in Lansing, MI. She was born November 24, 1929 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Fred and Henrietta (Schluter) Charles.  She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1948 and worked for Wolverine / Transamerica Insurance Company. She took several years off to raise her family and later returned there to work until retirement. Maxine enjoyed her involvement with the First Congregational Church, participating in the Susanna Winslow Circle and assisting youth fellowship. She enjoyed having the friendship of a number of childhood friends into her later years. Maxine married Frederick D. Schense on June 27, 1954 in Battle Creek. They had two children. Surviving is her son, Robert A. (Lynn) Schense of Lansing, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred in 2001 and son Gary in 2008. There will be no visitation or service. A private burial will occur at Fort Custer National cemetery. The family is grateful for the love and exceptional care that Maxine received during her last months at Robinwood Landing Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Lansing, MI.
