Passed Away on Monday, November 14, 2022, in Battle Creek. Max was born on May 2, 1941, in Battle Creek, the son of Garland and Ruth (Wilkey) Dyer. He had been a lifelong resident of the area graduating from Battle Creek Central High School in 1959. After high school Max served in the U.S. Marine Corp during Vietnam. After being honorably discharged he worked for Grand Trunk Railroad as a switchman retiring in 2000. He married the former Joyce Sweet who preceded him in death in 2009. Max enjoyed working on electronic devices such as TV’s and scanners, woodworking, especially making birdhouses, yardwork, playing chess, studying the history of Battle Creek and being with his family and grandchildren. Surviving are his children, Karen (Jake) Jones, Traci (Brian) Waltman, Peter Taylor, Beatrice Kabob (Rich Wykoff), Shelli McCarty (Kevin Lucas) and Alan Dyer; Grandchildren, Teia, Tara, Tori, Petey, Lacey, Brian, Spencer, Kiley, Conner, Alana, Carson, Casey, Katie, Claire, Harrison and 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Becky (Mike) Doren and a sister-in-law, Becky Dyer. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronnie, David, Mike, Dennis and a sister, Patty Eds. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside service with full military honors will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
