Mary Lou Stanton, age 96, of Battle Creek, passed away on January 19, 2025, at Lakeview Assisted Living. She was born on October 22, 1928, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Millard and Mildred (Martin) Blowers. Mary Lou was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Battle Creek Central High School in 1947. She was employed at Post Cereals after graduation, then went to work for Clark Equipment Company until their closing. She was an original member of the Bedford Lioness Club. Mary Lou enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing, camping, traveling, and living on the lake. Special memories included going out for dinner and dancing with her husband Bob and Mary Lou and her girlfriends going out “Partying.” Mary Lou was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” J. Stanton, he preceded her in death on May 13, 1993. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Orin Blowers. She is survived by her children; Sue (Hal) Diamond of Seattle, WA., Chuck Durham and Sally (Jim) Dowding, both of Battle Creek, grandchildren; Heather (Bill) Polk of Louisville, KY., Stacey Durham of Louisville, KY., Michelle Gibson of Orting, WA., Sheri Herrick of Kent, WA., Devan (Brittany) Dowding and Robert Martin, both of Battle Creek and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral service scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2025 at the funeral home. Interment will take place following the service at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Transitions Hospice, Humane Society of South-Central Michigan, or Bedford Lions Club.
