Mary Lee Shirk, age 93, of Shelbyville, MI., and formerly of Battle Creek passed away on March 16, 2025 at her residence surrounded by family. She was born on December 12, 1931, the daughter of Ralph and Mildred Wilder. Mary graduated from Marshall High School then went on to attend business college. She previously lived in Battle Creek before making her home in Shelbyville on Gun Lake. Mary was employed for over 15 years at the Kellogg Company as an executive secretary. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Gun Lake Women’s Club. Mary enjoyed ceramics, collecting antique glass, vacationing in Florida and spending time with her family at Gun Lake. She was married to Robert E. Shirk; he preceded her in death on June 8, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her brothers; Richard and Ralph Wilder Jr., sisters; Lily Jaress and Marjorie Nixon,a grandson, Ronald Lee Haver III, and brother-in-law, Richard Butzirus. Surviving are her children; Bob (Jill) Shirk, Sue (Ron) Dean, step-grandson, David (Jessica) Barry II, sister, Barbara Butzirus, sister in laws; Linda and Doris Wilder and Julia Shirk, grandchildren; Jamie Haver, Jennifer (James) Stegenga, great grandchildren; Jordan and Julian Stegenga, step great grandchildren; David Barry II, Ashlynn, Lani and Chris. Graveside service will take place 12:00 p.m., on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery Chapel. Memorial contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to the Gun Lake Association. Memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
