Mary Krauss

Mary E. Krauss of Battle Creek, formerly of Birch Run, died March 31, 2022 at Glenn Arbor Place in Battle Creek, Michigan.  Mary was preceded in death by her husband Donald Krauss and her brother, Robert Smith of Midland, MI.

She was born April 30, 1933 in Sanford, Michigan.  Daughter of Kenneth and Elva (Larsen) Smith of Olson, Michigan.  Mary graduated from Midland High School in 1951 and graduated from Saginaw General School of Nursing in 1954.  She married Donald Krauss, originally from Sebewaing, Michigan in 1955.

Donald and Mary owned and operated Krauss Funeral Home in Birch Run, Michigan for 23 years, retiring in January 1993.  In retirement they spent time traveling and remodeling houses.  While living in Birch Run, Mary was involved in many community, school, church and village projects which she loved.  Mary was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Birch Run since 1972, and is currently a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, MI.

Surviving are two children; Linda (Krauss) Seefeld of Gulfport, MS. and Dr. Brian (Jennifer) Krauss of Battle Creek, MI.  Grandchildren include Melissa (Andrew) Greer of Grand Forks, ND; Jessica Seefeld of Gulfport, MS; Heidi (Eric) Westendorp of Nashville, MI., Peter Krauss of St. Petersburg, FL., Samuel Krauss of Battle Creek, MI., Karen (Dan) Freeborn of Marquette, MI., and Jared (Rita) Augustine of Minnesota Lake, MN.  Private committal service will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Mark Lutheran Church Battle Creek. www.henryfuneralhome.org
