Mary Horvat

Mary A. Horvat, 100, went to be with her Lord on August 26, 2013. She was born on September 27, 1912 in Battle Creek to Louis and Katie (Rupich) Papick. Mary was united in marriage to Joseph Horvat in 1928 in Battle Creek, he preceded her in death in 1973. She was employed by the Battle Creek Bread Company for 26 years.
Mary was affectionately known as “Baba” by her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother to five generations. Mary is survived by her son, Gerald (Catherine) Horvat, daughters, Violet (Virgil) Mains, and Caroline Mains, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and thirteen great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son Joseph Horvat, and a brother, Michael Papick.
Visitation for family and friends will be held 5 pm to 7 pm Thursday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be recited at 7pm. Funeral services will be held Friday August 30, 2013 at 2 pm at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with The Very Rev. Mark J. Vyverman V.F. of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Health Residence Council, 200 E. Roosevelt Ave. Battle Creek, MI 49017.
