Mary Valeria “Val” Gault of Battle Creek passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the age of 90 after a brief illness. She was born in Bloomer, Wisconsin on November 11, 1924 and graduated from McDonnell High School in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. She graduated from the nursing program at Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek at the age of 50, worked as a nurse at the V.A. Hospital and Battle Creek Adventist Hospital, and was dedicated to helping her patients. Besides her loving dedication to her family, she had several interests, such as sewing, reading, Girl Scout activities, writing letters and a love of animals. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, baby son Gregory, grandparents Jake and Mary Rada (with whom she lived for many years), parents Gregory and Odeal Rada, beloved uncle Clarence Rada, sister Patricia and brother Charles. She is survived by children: Mary B. (Allen) Sedik, Annette (John) Manring, Robert (Sandy) Gault and Patrick (Carol) Gault; grandchildren: Michael (Sarah) Sedik, Colin (Tara) Gault, Brenna (Eric) LaForge, Liam Gault, Zachary Poche, Shelley Poche, Emily Poche, Simon Poche and great-granddaughter Lyrissa Sedik. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a private interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
