Mary Both

Mary Frances Both, age 65, of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016. She was born February 5, 1951 in Grand Blanc, Michigan the daughter of Stephen G. and Elizabeth “Scottie” (Burnside) Both. Mary was a graduate of Central Michigan University and did graduate work at Western Michigan University. She taught music at Highland Junior High School and Lakeview Junior High School as well as second grade at Westlake Elementary School. Mary and her family had a long history with bagpiping and the Highland Games, and most recently she followed with interest the Greater Midwest Pipe Band. She loved participating in the Battle Creek Field of Flight and enjoyed singing and spending time with friends at Karaoke. She was a member of F.O.E. Eagles Aerie #299 Auxiliary. Mary was the loving godmother to Logann Haluszka and Erin Stewart. She was also a dear sister to Kirk Stephen Both, who preceded her in death. Mary will be missed by her many friends and former students. In accordance with her wishes, Mary has been cremated and there will be no service. Contributions in Mary’s name may be given to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan, the Greater Midwest Pipe Band or the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by the Richard A.
