Mary Areaux

Mary Jeanne  Areaux, Age 64, Of Battle Creek, Passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday morning, March 24, 2015. She was born on October 16, 1950, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Leroy A. and Marion (Burnell) Mertens. Mary graduated from Lakeview High School in 1968. She then graduated from Argubright Business College and attended Western Michigan University. On May 16, 1981, she was united in marriage to Marvin L.  Areaux who survives. They moved to Canoga, CA, where she worked for Reed Roberts and Associates before going to work for UCLA. She retired after 25 years and moved to Las Vegas, NV, and returned to Battle Creek in October of 2013. Surviving is a daughter, Shannon K. Bankhead of Tarzana, CA; step sons, Michael Fergnson and Andrew Areaux; step daughters, Tammy Vidal and Jennifer Hollon; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; her mother, Marion Mertens. She was preceded in death by her father; her sister, Carol Ann Crance and an uncle, Robert E. Burnell. A memorial service was held for Mary on Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Richard A.
