Martin Hrebenar, Jr.

Martin M. Hrebenar, Jr., age 89, of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at The Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Marty was born on July 14, 1928 in York Run, Pennsylvania the son of Martin and Sophia (Zebraski) Hrebenar. He was a graduate of Georges Township High School. On July 27, 1946 he enlisted in the Air Force and served 30 years retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant on August 1, 1976. He received numerous decorations among them being the Korean Service Medal with 3 Battle Stars, Meritorious Service Medal and the Legion of Merit. He was also employed by the State of Michigan Civil Service as a technical reviewer until his retirement in 1994. He married Lynette Smith on July 16, 1949 and she preceded him in death on June 7, 1987. He is survived by his children: Joyce (Greg) Jackson, Martin (Sterla) Hrebenar III, Mark Hrebenar and Joanne Hrebenar; grandchildren: Amanda (Patrick) Smith and Sophia Hrebenar; great-grandchildren: Jackson and Sally Smith; sisters: Mary Ann Oberleitner and Kathryn Andreani; brothers: Robert and Michael Hrebenar.
