Martin Herr

Martin L. Herr, age 88 of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019. He was born June 18, 1931 in Bellevue, Michigan the son of Dean Paul and Elizina (Nash) Herr. Mr. Herr served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Korea during the Armistice. Following his honorable discharge from the Army he worked in the packaging department at Kellogg Company, retiring in 1988. He then drove for Meals on Wheels for several years. He was a member of the Calhoun County Yesteryear Club, liked antique John Deere tractors and was a lifelong Detroit Lions fan. He was devoted to his wife Carol E. (Horton) Herr whom he married on December 26, 1954. Carol preceded him in death on June 19, 1999 and he was also preceded by his parents, one sister and one brother. Surviving are four children: Dean (Connie Stein) Herr of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, Stacy (David) Jarvi of Mantua, Ohio, Sarah Herr of Battle Creek and Bryan (Jynnette) Herr of Fort Wayne, Indiana; five grandchildren: Jordan, Meghan, Erik, Evan and Austin; and five great-grandchildren.
