Marjorie Hibbard

Marjorie L. Hibbard, age 92 of Vermontville, formerly of Battle Creek, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 at Thornapple Manor. She was born June 19, 1920 in Union City, Michigan the daughter of Carl and Ethyl (Barve) Perry. Following graduation from Union City High School in 1937, she moved to Battle Creek where she lived until moving to Vermontville in 1980. Marjorie had worked at Oliver Equipment and Oliver Aviation, The MEA Conference Center on St. Mary’s Lake and Thornapple Manor retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Bedford O.E.S. Chapter #471, White Shrine of Battle Creek, Silver Spur Saddle Club, Battle Creek Pony Club, Battle Creek Motorcycle Club, Northside Snowmobile Club and Vermontville Senior Citizen Club. Marjorie enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, family outings and bowling which she did at M-66 Bowl for 40 years. She also liked to travel and had been to all of the contiguous 48 states. She had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church and most recently attended Chester Gospel Church in Charlotte. On February 9, 1946 she was married to Willard F. Hibbard in Angola, Indiana who preceded her in death in 1985. She was also preceded in death by her brother Harold Perry; two sisters: Alma Burke and Carla Storie and stepson: Willard F. Hibbard II. Surviving are three daughters: Cindy (Michael) Hart of Battle Creek, Kay (Lester) Fawley of Ionia and Sylvia (Michael) Terberg of Vermontville; daughter-in-law: Carol Hibbard of Las Vegas, NV; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Gunderson officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Posse or Barry Community Hospice c/o Lifespan.
