Marjorie Florence Gibson, age 88, of Battle Creek, died peacefully at The Bronson At Home Hospice Residence Wednesday evening, December 16, 2015. She was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on November 11, 1927, the daughter of Fred and Winifred (Sadd) Paulson. She married Samuel Gibson September 26, 1969, who survives. She is also survived by two daughters: Rita Peck of Battle Creek and Dawna (Gary) Smith of Bellevue; one son Brian (Carol) Chaney of Bronson; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mary (Dale) Wagner of Battle Creek and Madeline Miller of St. Cloud, Florida; one brother, Robert (Kathy) Paulson of Battle Creek; two sisters-in-law: Wilma Paulson and Shirley Paulson both of Battle Creek; and many nieces and nephews. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Jack, Jim and Arthur Paulson; sister Pauline Scullion; sister-in-law Dorothy Paulson and brothers-in-law: Harry Scullion and Bernie Miller. Marjorie enjoyed spending as much time with her family as she could. Her many talents included gardening, bowling and golf. She was known as a wonderful cook, loved to sew, knit and crochet; and in later years, enjoyed long rides in the car,. She worked very hard throughout her life, starting in her youth at Leila Hospital laundry, then Weston Biscuit, several years at Kellogg's, and then became self-employed for many years as co-owner of Sam & Margie's Citgo and Sam & Margie's Party Store on East Michigan Avenue in Battle Creek. Upon retiring she enjoyed motor home travel and many winters in Florida. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2015 in the chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor James Codde officiating.
