Marjorie “Marge” (Laycock) Ferguson-Weber
Born October 4, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois to Edith and Lloyd Laycock Died April 9, 2015 in Battle Creek, MI
Marge did a lot with her music, piano and saxophone, played in orchestra and dance band at Morgan Park High School, Chicago, Illinois. Marge also played for her Sunday School at the Morgan Park Baptist Church and taught Sunday School.
For several years, Marge and her Dad would go down to the Pacific Garden Mission, in the “Loop” and play for the men, they would sing and her Dad would play saxophone.
Marge graduated from Bob Jones College in 1942, in Cleveland, Tennessee, majoring in music and minoring in business.
In the summer of 1940, she took a class for Blue Print reading as she worked for her Dad, who owned Beverly Realty and Construction Company.. Marge also worked for a large insurance company in the loop until her Marriage to Jack Ferguson.
On June 3, 1947 Marge and Jack had a son named Jack Lloyd Ferguson. They settled in Evergreen Park, Illinois where Marge was active in her church and was a pianist for a Chorale group for several years. Marge held several offices in PTA, including President and has a lifetime membership in the Illinois PTA. Marge was active in politics.
Marge and Jack belonged to several groups and did a lot of entertaining in their home with their many friends. Marge was always there for her family as well as her friends.
After the death of her husband Jack on July 7, 1963, Marge and their son, Jack, moved to Battle Creek and she worked for TVJ Post Music Department and taught organ to many children in the community. She also worked at Lowry’s selling organs until the store closed in 1972 and then she went to Grinnel MS and taught organ there for several years. She played in a group and private parties.
Marjorie married Edward Weber in 1978, he preceded her in death November, 2012. Her son Jack died in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents .
She will be remembered as a good friend to many and helped them as she could. Marge even helped put a girl through school at Liberty University.
