Marion Yoey

March 10, 1919 — June 27, 2016

Marion (Hart) Yoey age 97, a lifelong area resident, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 at the Laurels of Bedford.  Marion was born March 10, 1919, the daughter of Clem and Lida (Balcomb) Hart.  She was a graduate of Augusta High School in 1936.  Marion was united in marriage on October 25, 1947 in Angola, Indiana to her husband LaWayne Yoey.   Marion was a member of Faith Baptist Church and Fort Custer Chapel, where she met many wonderful people and remained friends with for over 30 years.  She was employed by the Kellogg Company for seven years, and was a supervisor of Central Service at the Battle Creek Sanitarium for nine years retiring in 1981.  Marion volunteered for the Foster Grandparents Program where all the children called her “Gram”.  Marion and her husband enjoyed traveling and visiting their out of state children, and taking her grandchildren to parks, zoo’s and dinner.  After retirement, Marion and her husband enjoyed wintering in Arizona and Georgia.  She loved playing cards, mostly “Hand and Foot” and loved watching games shows on TV.  Marion and her husband were always open to anyone who wanted to stop by and visit.  Everyone who knew Marion knew of her humor, compassion, resolve and most of all her devotion of her savior.  She was preceded in death by her husband LaWayne Yoey in 1992, sister Evabelle Higgin, brother; Walt Hart and an infant granddaughter Susan Diane.  She is survived by two sons; David (Lili) Yoey of Phoenix, Arizona and Thomas (Kathy) Yoey of Battle Creek; Daughter; Diane (Jeff) Smith of Covington, Georgia; 7 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and 5 step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Kathy (Barney) Harper and Susan Guritz.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home.  Funeral services are 1:00 PM, Friday, July 1, 2016 at Faith Baptist Church, 13840 S. Helmer Road, Battle Creek with  Pastor Roy Henry and Pastor Glenn Huisinga officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the church.  Interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery.  www.henryfuneralhome.org
