Marion Robbins

Marion “Gramma” Robbins, age 95, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2015. She was born April 7, 1920 in Kalamazoo, Michigan the daughter of Burt and Lottie Sowles. She attended Kalamazoo Public Schools and worked at Westin Biscuit Company, Steve’s Grocery in Wattles Park and Hoff’s Hardware. Mrs. Robbins was a member of Birchwood United Methodist Church and was active in the Kellogg 25 Year Club of which her husband was a member. She spent many summers at Higgins Lake and for over 20 years wintered in Apache Junction, Arizona. Wherever she went, she made new friends. On December 18, 1937 Marion married Robert T. Robbins who preceded her in death on September 4, 2006. She was also preceded by her siblings: Ken, Keith and Don Sowles, Margaret Lewis and Eleanor Deerwester. Surviving are two sons: Harold (Dianna) Robbins and Howard “Skip” (Elaine) Robbins; ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Kintigh officiating. Private interment will be at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Birchwood United Methodist Church. www.henryfuneralhome.org
