Marilyn Elizabeth McMickens, 68, peacefully transitioned on December 6, 2020. Born November 10, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio to John and Lucille McMickens Sr. She was the second of seven (7) children. What was unique about Marilyn’s birthday was that she was born on the 10 ^th of November and her father was born on the 11 ^th of November.

Marilyn attended school in the Cleveland Public Schools and was baptized at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church until she moved to Arkansas where she attended Langston High school. She returned to Cleveland when her father died in 1967. Marilyn later moved to Battle Creek, Michigan where she worked as a teacher aide for the Battle Creek Head Start program.

Marilyn was a very joyful person who enjoyed laughing all of the time, cooking and Art. She was very creative with drawings, pottery and crafts, making holiday candles was her specialty.

Preceded in death by her parents John and Lucille (Braxton) McMickens Sr., one brother Lawrence M. White and nephew Jason A. Marshall. She leaves behind to celebrate her life with seven (7) children: Lisa Stancle, Marla McMickens, Martin McMickens, Yolanda McMickens, Troy McMickens, Charlie Broomfield and Malowee Broomfield. Her surviving 3 sisters are Betty and Alice McMickens, Shelley Wheeler and 2 brothers John and Benjamin McMickens. She also has 19 grandchildren and 3 nieces, 1 nephew and a host of additional family and friends.
