Marilyn Clements

August 27, 1937 — October 30, 2014

Marilyn Louise Clements, 77, of Battle Creek, went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2014, at Bronson Battle Creek after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born August 27, 1937 to Gerald and Marion Horn in Battle Creek, MI. She spent many of her early years in Tekonsha, MI, where she graduated from the High School in 1955. Marilyn then attended and graduated from Argubright Business College in Battle Creek. Marilyn married William J. Clements, the love of her life, on October 1, 1960, who survives. She is also survived by two sons: Bill (Kate) Clements Jr. of Kalamazoo and Jeff (Tristen) Clements of Battle Creek; three grandchildren: Jacob, Shelbi and Jordan; one great-granddaughter, Zoi of Battle Creek; three sisters: Betty (Richard) Vincent of Battle Creek, Janet (Don) Shaffer and Valerie (Lee) Bergerson of Tekonsha; one brother, Gerald (Angela) Horn of Austin, TX, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Marilyn was employed by the Michigan Rehabilitation Services in Battle Creek for over thirty years, from which she retired. She was a long time member of the Union Church in Tekonsha, singing in the Choir there for many years. Both Marilyn and Bill enjoyed their lakeside home of many years and shared their pontoon boat by giving many friends and family rides around the lake. She also enjoyed gardening, bird-watching, reading and sports on TV. Since Bill Jr. and Jeff are both musicians and have been in various bands, starting several groups themselves, Marilyn and Bill enjoyed sharing their musical talents over the years. The sisters usually spent their birthdays together going out to lunch and afterwards, very often, going to Marilyn and Bill’s for cake and ice cream. A memorial service celebrating Marilyn’s life was held at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on November 4, 2014 with a very uplifting service given by Pastor Brenda Clark of Kalamazoo. Everyone who knew Marilyn remembers her as a kind, quiet, witty, gentle lady, and we will all miss her very much! www.henryfuneralhome.org
