Marie Slayton

Marie M. (Miller) Slayton, Age 78, Of Battle Creek, Died Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Borgess Medical Center. Marie was born on July 19, 1937, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Frank P. and Mary Ann (Penzer) Miller. She had been a lifelong resident of the area graduating from St. Philip High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to David B. Slayton from 1959 to 1976. Marie was employed by State Farm Insurance for several years until she became a homemaker. She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church and a former member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge# 533. She enjoyed reading, watching old movies, Chinese food, bingo, attending auto races with her family, and spending time with her special family at Countryside Assisted Living. Surviving are her children, Jeffrey (Sandra) Slayton of East Leroy, Jeanne (Joe) Slayton-Collins of Ann Arbor, Jan (Jack) Basso of Rockford, MI and Jill Slayton of Battle Creek; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brother, Joseph (Nancy) Miller of East Leroy and a sister, Sharon Muselin of East Leroy; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Tony Muselin and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
