Marian Smith

Marian J. Smith, 80, of Springfield, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice on Monday, March 18, 2013. She was born February 7, 1933 in Hastings, Michigan the daughter of Kenneth and Onna M. (Bennett) Leins. Marian was a 1951 graduate of Lakeview High School and worked at the Kellogg Company for 24 years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed collecting owls, traveling, playing cards and watching the Detroit Tigers; and was a member of the Women’s League of Battle Creek, The Red Hat Society and two card groups. Surviving are six children: Mollie, Steve (Vicky), Tom, Karen, Diane and Jim (Tolly); seven grandchildren: Kelly, Jason, Justin, David, Tyler, Samantha and Lina; two great-grandchildren: Logan and Maggie; a sister: Pat of Hastings; four nieces: Deb, Sandra, Ann and Barb; and her Best Friend, Lita. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
